Materials
1x Recollection Signature Especial (The Double Capped kind)
2x Pentel Color Twins (Caps)
2x TUL Retractable Pens (Tips)
1x Dr. Grip grip (American Dr. Grip Brights, or any Dr. Grip grip of your choosing)
1 Bic barrel (Clic Stic, Ultra Round Stic, etc.)
Substitute Materials (Standard Mod Part ---- Substitute part)
•1x Recollections Signature Especial Barrel ---- Tim Holtz Distress Marker (although the barrel is peculiar color)
•2x Tul Tips ---- 2x Uni-Ball Signo Gel Impact RT Tips
•2x Pentel Color Twin Caps ---- 2x Art Color Twin Caps
•1x Bic Barrel ---- Sakura Gellyroll (their tapered barrel can hold the CT caps onto the Recollections barrel without using tape)
1. Gather your materials. You will need the following:
• 1 Recollections Signature Especial Journal Marker (Or 1 Tim Holtz Distress Marker)
• 2 Pentel Color Twin Caps (Or 2 Art Color Twin Caps)
• 2 Tul Tips (Or 2 Uni-Ball Signo Gel Impact RT Tips)
• 1 Bic Barrel (Or Sakura Gellyroll)
• 1 Dr. Grip grip (Use which ever type you prefer. I used Dr. Grip Brights because the grip is CLOUDY and feels absolutely amazing once the “newness” texture is worn down.)
2. Remove the barrel writing from the Recollections Signature Especial barrel by taping over the barrel writing with masking tape. When you remove the masking tape, it will usually remove some or all of the barrel writing. If you are having difficulty with using tape to remove the barrel writing, try using packaging tape or another kind of stickier tape. You can also try removing the barrel writing by sanding it off with paper or using nail polish remover, but there is a higher chance of bending the barrel with these other methods. If you DO use one of these other 2 methods, be careful not to bend it. (Special thanks to Solid for finding the tape method)
3. Remove the caps and tips from the Recollections barrel, and empty out the inktube. You will not need the tips or caps of the Recollections barrel for this mod (although, you should keep the caps and tips because they’re really nice)
4. Cut 2 sections of your Bic pen barrel to be about 3 centimeters long. You don’t have to worry about making these cuts look really nice, because these sections will be on the inside
of the mod
5. Wrap one or 2 layers of masking tape around one side of the 3 cm Bic section. This way, there will be a layer or 2 of tape around one side of the bic, but the other side will have a section of the bic which isn’t wrapped with tape. Do the same to the other 3 cm bic section. This tape is used to secure the bic sections into the Recollections barrel.
6. I recommend you use super glue or hot glue for this step; but you may use sticky tack if you want. Glue each of the 2 Tul tips into the tops of the 2 Pentel Color Twin caps. Tul tips and Signo Gel Impact RT tips fit perfectly into the tops of the Color Twin caps. If you want your mod to be slightly heavier, I recommend you use 2 Tul tips instead of the Signo Gel Impact RT tips. (Tul tips= 1.90 grams, Signo Gel Impact Tips= 1.74 grams)
7. These caps are some examples of how you can do this step. Cut a Dr. Grip grip in half, and you may add some Sailor Gel grip rings (or however much of a grip section you want). Next, put the Dr. Grip grip and your choice of additional grips onto the Color Twin caps in the way that you want. If you’re having a hard time getting the grips onto the caps, you may use rubbing alcohol or water to help lubricate the caps and grips so they will slide on much easier.
8. Insert the Bic sections into the Color Twin caps and make sure that they are snug. The taped ends of the Bic sections will be the parts that will go into the Recollections barrel.
9. Finally, push the Bic sections into the Recollections barrel until the Color Twin caps are flush against the barrel. You’ve just finished making your Cloudburst mod!
